8 Months and on the Move!

Wow, I didn't realize that it had been over a month since I last posted a blog entry for Eliza. However, I do have a good excuse--she's on the move! On Mother's Day, she started army crawling all over the place (tummy not off the floor) and she hasn't slowed down since. Therefore, my days of plopping her on the floor with some toys while I type are over. And since I've started doing my proofreading again, my evenings are filled with that activity after she goes to bed. So, that's my excuse.

So yes, Eliza is now 8 months old and has so many new skills, that it seems like she's a completely different baby! As I stated before, she's started crawling and she's into EVERYTHING! We had to get a large gate contraption to put in the living room to corral her in so that she wouldn't get into the dog food or go to the back door. As long as you sit in the living room with her while she plays, she doesn't seem to mind the confinement. However, once you leave and she realizes you're gone, well, that doesn't go over so well. She's also started pulling up on the coffee table and furniture, as well as standing up in her crib. We had to lower her bed so that she wouldn't dive out! She's also eating Cheerios and lumpy foods. She's had cream cheese, shredded cheese, mashed bananas, pizza crust, and other things. She gets pretty excited about feeding herself, which makes for a mess at dinner time. Plus, she's already showing her eating style by not wanting to eat all of one item at once. Instead, she'll have a little baby food, a bit of the bottle, and some Cheerios, then she'll start over again. Variety is the spice of her life, that's for sure.

Eliza has also learned to say "Mom-Mom," which is just wonderful to me (thus far). So she can say "Da-Da," Mom-Mom," and "cat." She's working on waving too.

Last night she went to her first Bible class. Our Vacation Bible School is this week and they have a table that has little seats for little people. Since there is another baby her age in the congregation, they had a baby class. She did so well! She enjoyed chewing on the bird and giraffe from the Noah's Ark playset. No more teeth to speak of yet, although based on her crankiness level lately, I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't another one working its way out.

So as you can see, we've been a busy bunch here. We're planning our next camping trip for July and hopefully a trip on a pontoon boat with friends sometime this summer too. But that's the latest from our house to yours!
