Welcome to Eliza's new blog spot! This format is easier to use and easier to archive her blog entries rather than deal with an expanding web page. We hope that you all will enjoy this format! I can also post photos here as well in addition to the ones that are linked to on her home page.
Last Friday we went to the doctor's office for Eliza's belated 4-month check-up and shots. Her original appointment was scheduled for February 13th, but that was the day of the big blizzard and we didn't want to get out in the snow for a few shots. So we rescheduled and as it turned out, she couldn't get back in until March 9th--six days after her 5-month mark! Anyhow, her appointment was great. She is doing well and is growing just great. Our doctor isn't into the whole percentile thing, but he said she is average in her height and weight so that is fine with me. She's healthy and happy and that's all that matters to us. She now weighs 15 lbs. 1 oz. and is 25.5" long, which means she's gained 8 lbs. 4 oz. and grown 5" since birth. No wonder we're in size 3 diapers and 6-9 month clothes! She endured her shots and wasn't crabby at all, which surprised me (and delighted me as well).
However, one area she's not doing so hot in is sleep. We had been giving her a bottle when she woke up in the night and the doctor said we should cut that out of her routine, otherwise she'll come to depend on it. And as far as her unconsolable midnight screaming (which goes on for an hour), he said that she might be starting to have some separation anxiety, especially from Mommy. He said that I could try sleeping in her room so that when she woke up, she'd see me and be comforted, then go back to sleep. However, last night she didn't have her screaming fit, so let's keep our fingers crossed that she's over that. In fact, last night she slept the best she's ever slept before. I even had to wake her up to get up in the morning! She was just a-snoozin'!
One funny thing that happened last night, though, was the Mystery of the Missing Band-Aids. She had Band-Aids on the tops of her thighs from where she got her shots. Since it was a bit warm last night, we put her in a onesie instead of a sleeper. This morning when I went to get her up, I noticed that both of the bandages were gone. I found one in her blanket, but the other was nowhere to be found. I looked on the ground and everywhere but there was no sign of it. Then, when I turned Bunny over, there were the Band-Aids--stuck to his leg in the exact spot where Eliza had them on her leg! Same leg too! It was pretty weird! I took a photo to prove it!
