Eliza Rolls!

It amazes me what can be accomplished in the span of one week--especially when you are a baby! Last week, Eliza made her first overnight trip out of town. We went to visit our friends John and Aleisha and their kids down in Bloomington. Eliza did great in her pack n' play and helped bolster my confidence that we can successfully manage a night away from home. So I imagine more road trips will be on the schedule.
But the big news is that Eliza rolled over for the first time today! Yesterday we were at the home of the Grandparents Bailey and she was so very close but today, when I put her down on a blanket in the living room on her back, she rolled over as she tried to reach her pacifier. I happened to have the camera nearby so if you go to her Fourth Month album, the photos of her on a blanket (where you can only see the back of her head) document that first trip over to her belly. I was actually surprised because once she got on her belly, she laid there for a few minutes playing with her pacifier before she started fussing. Since then, she's done it two additional times so I can report that the one time wasn't a fluke! I'm very excited because now when we go to the doctor, she'll have reached an important milestone. Hooray!! Now I won't feel as if I'm to blame for her inability to roll over by lack of tummy time!
Next Friday she goes to the doctor for her belated 4-month appointment that was postponed due to the snow. And this Saturday, our little baby will be 5 months old. Today I was at the doctor's office and a woman had her 6-week old baby there and it was odd to think, "ooh, I remember when Eliza was that small!" Time flies when you're having fun...and learning to roll over!
